Vuvuzela Filter Strips Droning Horns from World Cup Broadcasts

Simon, product manager at National Instruments (NI), wrote in to point us to a free bit of software he wrote up, which uses the back-end of NI’s LabView software to automatically filter and cut out the frequency ranges where vuvuzelas, the celebratory horns that sound like disturbed locusts, or maybe angry bees, drone on endlessly during World Cup matches.

Brilliant. Only German-speakers will get this video, but most American’s don’t give a rat’s about soccer, anyway. Except for my friends Mike and Jan L., who as die-hard-fans were here in Germany in 2006, and of course my brothers George and Mike.
I’m thinking it’ll end with Germany : Argentina. What do you think? It would be incredibly cool if the US team made it to the finals. But then the World Cup is not a Disney movie yet.

With the comment: “You’ve asked the question in ENGLISH. Isn’t that your answer right there?”
Yes, you can eat anything you want to in Brussels.
So I guess this place must be perfect for me!
Seriously.
Appetizer: Moules a la St. Catherine - that’s mussels in tomato sauce with baked-over cheese and pesto sauce on top of that. Never had that before, was delicious! Sorry, picture is blurry because I tried to take it covertly while the waiter was standing a few feet away from our table, obviously bored so staring at us the entire time.
Entree: Steamed baby lobster with cocktail sauce and garlic sauce for dipping. Very light and fresh.
Dessert: Mousse au chocolat in a creamy vanilla sauce laced with caramel drippings, a dollop of whipped cream and a fresh strawberry. To die for.
I didn’t take a picture of the other two courses (waiter was still staring) but here’s a picture from a side street of Grand Place on our way to Place St. Catherine. It’s got lobsters on it. (No mousse though.)
